Our Family Story

Lone Tree Jujutsu was founded in 1993 by Dave Huntley, with a simple aim: to teach traditional Jujutsu in a way that builds confidence, discipline, and respect in people of all ages.

Inspired by their father’s passion and dedication to the art, his sons Nick and Richard followed in his footsteps, both achieving black belt level and going on to teach and train others within the club. Over the years, the Huntley family has had the privilege of teaching thousands of students, from young children taking their first steps in martial arts to adults seeking fitness, confidence, and practical self-defence.

Today, Lone Tree Jujutsu proudly represents three generations of Jujutsu practitioners within the Huntley family — a rare tradition that reflects a deep commitment to passing on knowledge, values, and respect for the art.

Our club remains firmly rooted in the local community, offering a welcoming, supportive environment where students are encouraged to grow both physically and mentally. Whether you are a child building confidence, a teenager developing discipline, or an adult looking for fitness and self-defence, Lone Tree Jujutsu is a place where everyone is supported on their journey.

Sensei Dave Huntley wrote his first book back 2012 where he shared his philosophy on what he had learned through the martial arts and how to apply it to everyday living. A warrior not only in training but also career, family, health and relationships.

This part of the Ridgeway where Dave calls home was also home to the great english nature writer Richard Jefferies who inspired the Huntley family.
